Day 25 Litchfield National Park 12/6/12

We spent the morning around the caravan after cooking our breakfast on the camp fire.
Around late morning we drove down to Wangi falls. At Wangi Falls there is a big water fall that falls into a big pool of water. You can swim in the big pool at the bottom, and we did. The water was not too cold, but compared to Mataranka, it was quite cold! Wangi falls was the first of three really fun swimming spots that we visited.
The second one we went too was called Florence Falls. The water fall there was not quite as big as Wangi Falls but we really enjoyed swimming in it. There were lots of big fish. At first Tess and I just walked in the water from rock to rock, then we swam, with Dad, all the way over to the falls. It was really fun. We also swam across to a ledge in the rock wall where Tess and I climbed up. There was also a cave like thing that we swam across to.
The final place we went too was probably the most fun, for me. There was a series of pools between each small water fall. The pool we swam in had a small water fall that we could go down into the next pool. There was like a wall before the water started rushing down into the next pool. We could get sort of stuck to the rock wall by the rushing water! It was cool!
We then returned to the caravan and lit the camp fire for dinner. We had toasted jaffles cooked in a jaffle iron.

  1. Awesome. You sound like you’re all having so much fun. I’m not very good with names, but the water falls in your photos look very familiar. I think I may have had a swim at both of them when I went trecking around Litchfield in 2001. I especially remember the second water fall you mention with the different pools because I was able to get a pool almost to myself 🙂 Though I did scratch my back rather badly trying to slide over the rocks from one pool to the next. Silly silly me.
