Wednesday

We didn’t go to any theme parks today, instead we went into the Tamborine mountains! They were amazing. We had a very nice lunch at St Bernard’s Hotel. We ate in a courtyard type thing outside, and the view was absolutely amazing, in fact I’m afraid the photos just don’t quite do it justice! There was a peacock walking around outside, that was interesting. There was also a a St Bernard Dog, he was so big and cute! After lunch we went for a walk through a rainforest! That was fun! We also went and had a look in some shops, one of the shops was a cuckoo clock shop. That was really cool! Cuckoo clocks everywhere! All the clocks were at different times so that they didn’t all chime at the same time! When we got back to the cabin Tess and I had a swim in the pool and Mr B came for a drink before we all went out to the ‘Out Back Spectacular’. Which is a horse show with a dedication to Pharlap. The name ‘Out Back Spectacular’ really does suit the show as it was absolutely spectacular! They served everyone some dinner while the show was on. First there was a small salad wrap, the a yummy steak with veggies, and then a mini pavlova, it was all very nice! I think everyone enjoyed it, it sure gave Tess a few ideas! We caught the bus to and from the show.

Tuesday

‘WET ‘n’ WILD’!
In the morning we had breakfasts at the cabin, and then had a lazy couple of hours just ‘hanging’ around the cabin. At around 9.30 we got in the car (ford fiesta) and drove to ‘Wet ‘n’ Wild’! We went and put our towels and stuff on a beach chair near the wave pool, and then went to sort of explore the park. Tess and I went on a playground thing with a few small tube slides, that was fun! Then all of us went on a ride called ‘Mammoth Falls’, that was kind of scary but so much fun! We want down it a couple of times!

Dad and Tess went down a giant slide, and then I went down (I was too scared at first!). It was also lots of fun!

After that Dad, Tess and I went down a open tube slide, that was lots of fun, right next to that one was a closed tube slide, they were part of the same ride thingy. All together there were four of the green tube slides, so we were able to race each other.

Dad and Tess then went down a big tube slide in a donut thing.

Then Tess and Dad, the daredevils, went on a ride in the extreme zone! It was like a ‘U’/’V’ shape hopefully you will understand it from the picture.

Today was the first day we bought lunch at the theme park, it was pretty good. It has been a very fun day!

Monday

Today was Movie World! It was fun, but in a different way from Sea World.

20130625-080728.jpg

We had cereal for breakfast in the cabin this morning. Straight after breakfast we set off to Movie World. After a quick coffee in one of the shops inside Movie World we went and watch a 4D 10minute movie, it was ‘Ice Age Return of the Dinosaurs’.

It was rather different from your regular movie. The chairs rocked and bounced around, air spurted from different places and occasionally water was sprayed from what I think it must have been the chairs in front of you. It was an experience! Mum and Tess then went on a ride similar to the Viking one we all went on yesterday. I think it was called ‘Wild West Falls’. This resulted in Tess doing it four more times during the day, Dad doing it once, and Mum doing it three more times, unfortunately I was way to chicken! We also watched a stunt car show, it was pretty amazing!

Another thing we watched was the western showdown in the streets of a western town. That was quite funny and interesting!
All four of us went on the roadrunner Roller coaster, it was very fun! Mum, Tess and I went on a Scooby-Doo haunted house roller coaster. It was so much fun! It was kind of scary when we went down the big dips and around the sharp bends, because it was dark! However it was a long wait of about 45 minutes to get on the ride, but it was well worth it! We went and had a look in a Willy Wonka lolly shop. There was also a Harry Potter shop, which was pretty cool!
Had an ice cream from ‘Ben and Jerry’s’, they were very yummy! We left Movie World at about 5 o’clock, and came back to the cabin for a little while, before going over to Mr B’s for a quick drink before dinner. For dinner, we went with Mr B to an Italian Restaurant called ‘Vapiano’, we all had Pasta! Yum! Then we went for a walk down to the beach and had a look at the king tide! It was pretty rough out there!
That’s all folks!

Sunday

Well. Today we started the first of the ‘worlds’…Sea World!
Okay, so first up today we went to the bistro at this holiday park for a buffet breakfast. There was a large selection of different things like pancakes, bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, juice and cereals! It was very nice! We came back to the cabin quickly, then left for Sea World. We got there about half an hour before it opened, which was good as the lines were already quite long and grew very quickly! Mum and Dad had a coffee and then we set off to explore Sea World! First we went on what they called a ‘gondola’ which was like a series of small cabs that hung from overhead cables. Sort of like those things in the snow, just smaller. Then we watched a dolphin show where the dolphins performed a lot of amazing flips and other exciting tricks! Straight after the show, we got to actually pat one of the dolphins! Her name was Diva. We also had a photo taken while we were patting the dolphins. We also (and this is in no particular order) went on the Viking ride. On the Viking ride we all sat in a boat like thing and slowly floated down a man made stream, and the it dropped down a big hill, it was not vertical but it felt almost vertical! It was the type that makes your stomach go up into your throat! We also saw a play with Sea Lions. It was very well done, very clever! Mum and Tess went on a very fast and scary roller coaster like ride called the ‘Jet Rescue’. (Dad and I chicken out!) Apparently it goes at 70km per hour! Tess and Mum said they kind of enjoyed it, but wouldn’t rush back on it. We also saw a Jet Ski Extreme stunt show. It was quite spectacular! We left Sea World around 4.40 and went to a Japanese grocery store for a look. Afterwards we went for dinner at ‘the Sushi Train’, it was Tess’ first time at a sushi train and we all enjoyed it, although it is amazing how quickly the pile of finished plates can grow!! It has been a long, fun and exciting couple of days so far. Tomorrow we are planning to go Movie World!

Saturday

We had a pretty relaxing day today, we didn’t start going to any of the theme parks today. We spent the day mostly at Harbour Town, which is a factory outlet shopping centre. For breakfast we went to a little cafe in Harbour Town. the deal was that if you buy a drink, then you get either bacon, eggs and hash brown or pancakes for $4.50! We came back to our cabin around midday and went for a swim in the pool! There was a little slide going into the pool, that was really fun! For dinner we went to one of Mum’s college friends, Mr B’s high rise apartment. We had some cheese and biscuits and stuff there, before going just over the road to a newish pub. Probably not the best night to go to a pub in Queensland being the UK Lions v Australian Wallabies in rugby, but it was quite nice. (Just out of interest, UK won 23 to 2!) After dinner we went back to Mr B’s for coffee. Also I think I forgot to mention that we have hired a Ford Fiesta for the week that we are here, as we figured it would give us more flexibility as to where and when we go. It also worked out cheaper to hire the car for the week rather than catch the cab bus thing everyday! We have just posted a few pics of Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Trip

Hello again everyone! These next few couple of blogs will be on our trip to the Gold Coast! We will be in Queensland for seven nights, from the 21st of June to the 28th. During this time we will hopefully be visiting the following theme parks: Wet ‘n’ Wild, Movie World and Sea World! Hopefully we will also have some time to relax a little bit! As I am writing this, we are on the plane. Tess is watching a movie, Mum is crocheting (madly trying to keep up with Mormie!!) and Dad is watching a financial show on the little tv screens on the back of the seats! Before we boarded the plane, we bought dinner from a little cafe to eat on the plane. Tess and Mum both had a chicken Caesar salad, which I think they both enjoyed, Dad had I had Turkish bread rolls, which were pretty average, but anyway, this is not a food review. So anyway, I think we have to sort of pack up everything now, as we are about to land. I won’t be able to post this post until we are probably checked in at our accommodation.
