We had a quiet, lazy morning, before tootling off down the street to embark on a catamaran tour. There were only two other people on the tour, so we were very lucky because they can sometimes have up to thirty people! The boat had some nets at the front, which we were able to sit on, like the boat at Monkey Mia. The weather today was just splendid! The sun was shining, the breeze was minimal and there was not a cloud to be seen! Although it was good when the breeze picked up a little, because the boat engine was able to be turned off, and we were able to just sail!
This is the one of the nets on the boat.
This is the sail. Dad’s artistic shot of the sail.
We were on the boat for about an hour, before the boat was anchored, and we were allowed to go out and snorkel around a small part of the Ningaloo Reef! The current was quite strong, so it was a bit difficult to swim out to the reef, but once we were there, it was spectacular! We saw lots of different fish, about five turtles and lots of coral.
We saw lots of these bright blue fish.
This is one of the turtles we saw. The turtles came very, very close to us!
Speaking of turtles, this is a photo Mum took at Monkey Mia, we just forgot to put it up on the blog then.
After snorkelling for about an hour, we got back on the boat and had lunch. It was a very yummy sausage sizzle. After lunch, we were aloud to go on the boom net! That was very fun.
Boom netting! Even Mum had a go this time!
About an hour later, we got off the boat to do some more snorkelling at a different part of the Ningaloo Reef. We didn’t see any turtles there, but Mum and Dad did see a shark! It was only a Reef Shark though, we were told that they are quite scared of humans, and probably wouldn’t hurt anyone.
After the tour, we walked around Coral Bay for a bit, and then we just had a quiet afternoon back at the caravan!
